Seasonal Articles: “Apples, Nostalgia, and a Little Jam”

The Official (Highly Subjective) Hamantaschen Filling Rankings

1. Strawberry Jam
If I met strawberry jam in a hamantaschen for the first time today, I’m not entirely sure we’d be best friends. But food is memory, and memory carries weight. Strawberry jam earns the coveted #1 spot because it tastes like childhood. It’s dependable. Familiar. It feels like home.

2. Salted Caramel
Delicious but slightly rebellious. Salted caramel entered my life relatively late, and I’ve been loyal ever since. It feels modern without being gimmicky — indulgent, but confident about it.

3. Peanut Butter & Chocolate
Reese’s in triangle form. Enough said.

4. Chocolate Chips (Semi-Sweet)
A bit simple considering what’s out there these days, but sometimes simple is exactly the point. It ranks high on nostalgia and reliability. No surprises. Just chocolate doing what chocolate does.

5. Raspberry Dark Chocolate
A little tart. A little grown up. It feels decadent without trying too hard — like strawberry’s more sophisticated cousin.

6. Dulce de Leche
Deeply delicious. Also structurally unstable. High risk, high reward.

7. S’mores (Marshmallow + Chocolate)
Adorable in theory. Sticky in practice. A solid choice if you’re leaning into the chaos.

8. White Chocolate & Sprinkle Mix
I’m not naturally a white chocolate person, but there’s something undeniably “birthday party” about this combination. It’s joyful. It doesn’t apologize.

9. Salted Caramel Pretzel
Yes, salted caramel already holds the #2 spot — but this sweet/salty variation deserves its own moment. Crunch, softness, caramel. It understands balance.

10. Nutella
Over-indulgent? Absolutely. Crowd-pleaser? Without question. It refuses to retire.

Actively Do Not Make the List

Apricot jam (I know, I know).
Poppy seed — didn’t like you as a child, don’t like you now.
Date filling.
Pistachio cream.

We can still be friends. Just not inside my hamantaschen.
